| WHAT: | A special meeting of the Board of Regents has been called by Board Chair Allan Vigil and the board's Executive Committee. The regents will convene to discuss the expansion of public medical education in Georgia. |

| WHY: | The board members will discuss the report they received this week from an independent consultant on the expansion of public medical education within the University System of Georgia. Board Chair Vigil is expected to announce the board's decision regarding acceptance of the report at the conclusion of the meeting. |
